Ambassador

Liam Klaver

In March 2025, Liam went for a routine tonsillitis surgery. After the surgery he came home and did not seem to be healing. Wednesday night into Thursday morning, he threw up two liters of blood at home. Thursday morning he was rushed back Children’s where doctors discovered the source of the bleed: a post tonsillectomy hemorrhage in his right carotid artery.  In layman’s terms, his carotid artery— the main artery to the brain— was leaking since his surgery, causing him to slowly bleed out.

During his second surgery, he needed nine units of blood plus additives and during surgery went into cardiac arrest. He coded on the operating table for 10 minutes before doctors were able to revive him. Afterwards, he was intubated for his own safety.

Throughout all of this, the driving factor has been getting back to lacrosse. He played for Muskego Lacrosse Club for a number of years before being hospitalized. While doctors have told Liam he will likely never be able to play full lacrosse again, that hasn't stopped Liam from finding ways to get involved. From making friends with players and staff at the Marquette Men's Lacrosse program, to helping Muskego Lacrosse out with camps and clinics, Liam has become not only an ambassador for Muskego Lacrosse Club, but the entire sport.
